The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a government-sponsored public service program under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhiji’s Centenary year, 1969, aimed at developing student’s personality through community service. NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, working for a campus-community linkage with a motto, “Not me but you”.
The objectives of the NSS scheme are:-
- The students has to understand themselves their relation to the community
- Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them
- Developing social and civic responsibility
- Improving leadership quality and
- Practice National integration and Developing the social harmony skills
- Environmental development.
