National Service Scheme(NSS)

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a government-sponsored public service program under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhiji’s Centenary year, 1969, aimed at developing student’s personality through community service. NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, working for a campus-community linkage with a motto, “Not me but you”.

The objectives of the NSS scheme are:-
  • The students has to understand themselves their relation to the community
  • Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them
  • Developing social and civic responsibility
  • Improving leadership quality and
  • Practice National integration and Developing the social harmony skills
  • Environmental development.

NSS ACTIVITIES:

The College has a very active NSS Wing, which performs laudable activities to help the students grow into better responsible citizens of tomorrow. Cultural, social and humanitarian activities are regular affair with the NSS/RRC of this College. The NSS unit holds social service camps in rural areas where students and teachers work in collaboration with local youths. Usually the programme includes road construction, road repairing, cleaning of college campus, cleaning of water tanks, plantation of saplings organizing health check up camps, blood donation camp particularly in pulse polio immunization programme, cultural programmes, observing World‟s Aids day, Anti leprosy day etc. To expose students to social service, the unit/club organizes regular activities including special camps in rural areas, this college adopted villages namely Rangat, Lumputhoi, Moonongtdu, Cham Cham, Lumchyrmit, Suchen rim (Present), etc. Besides the above activities, the N.S.S. volunteers represented the college/state at National, regional and state level programmes. Every year the NSS unit in collaboration with District Administration organizes cleaning drives in part of Khliehriat Town.
